Family Reunification

Refining Reunification

Since 1989, Casey Family Services Reunification Program has been providing intensive, home-based services to families who have children in foster care because of abuse and neglect. The program is based on six core principles:

  1. Reunification should begin at the time of child placement.

  2. Reunification takes time.

  3. Services must be comprehensive and integrated.

  4. The issues of jeopardy and conditions for reunification must be clear.

  5. Services work best when we recognize family strengths.

  6. Further study of families and processes likely to succeed are needed.
