Major Initiatives
Casey Family Services focuses on building partnerships that strengthen families and communities on local, state, and national levels. The following initiatives are those that have shown strong results.
The Alliance for Racial Equity
The Alliance is committed to reducing the disproportionate number of children of color in the foster care system through policy and practice reforms.
National Adoption Day
National Adoption Day raises awareness of the children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families through adoption.
National Convening on Youth Permanence
Launched as a grassroots effort in 2002, the National Convening on Youth Permanence challenges the long–standing paradigm that older children and youth in foster care are unlikely to develop strong family connections before reaching the age of majority. Today, the National Convenings on Youth Permanence are sponsored today by the Annie E. Casey Foundation/Casey Family Services and Casey Family Programs.
National Foster Care Month
Each May, National Foster Care Month heightens the visibility of foster care and provides a strong platform for individuals and organizations working to support children and families.
New Haven Direct Services Grants Program
The New Haven Direct Services Grants Program is a joint effort between the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s grant-making and direct service operations. This program makes small grants and offers technical assistance to organizations delivering services directly to children and families in New Haven, Connecticut, the home of Casey Family Services’ headquarters.
