To the Editor:

May is National Foster Care Month, a time to celebrate the families and individuals who help our nation's most vulnerable children -- in (state or city) alone, we have more than (number) of children in foster care.

As a (former foster child, foster parent, community leader, etc.) I have seen the difference that support can make for foster children and their families.

Everyone in (name of community) can do something to help: these children need mentors, foster parents need back-up care, teens leaving care need help finding jobs. For more information about what you can do, contact (local number).
