Federal Stimulus Funding to Benefit Thousands of Connecticut Families

More than 75 Connecticut nonprofits and municipalities are poised to receive an estimated $15 million in new federal stimulus funding to support emergency benefits and subsidized employment for thousands of needy children and families. The new funding is due in part to the state’s progressive approach to obtaining third-party reimbursements for expenses incurred by non-governmental organizations and municipalities. read more >

Empower Enterprises Expands Work Opportunities for Former Offenders

Empower New Haven, Inc. (ENH), took another step to address the needs of New Haven’s most vulnerable residents when it announced a transitional employment program for former offenders in April. Developed through an ENH subsidiary, the program uses a work crew model to create training, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities for its members. read more >

Elm City Fellowship Applications Available June 21

The Annie E. Casey Foundation will begin accepting applications on June 21 for the third cohort of the Elm City Fellowship for Children and Families, a nine-month leadership development program designed for emerging leaders within New Haven’s nonprofit and public sectors. read more >
