Working Together

Casey Family Services is committed to assuring that all young people in foster care are able to leave the system with lasting family relationships and the skills they need for adulthood.

We are finding success with a model we call the Permanency Teaming Process, which brings together people already involved in a child’s life, including foster parents, coaches, family friends, and more. In addition, the Casey social worker and other professionals are involved in the team.

What is Permanency Teaming?

The Permanency Teaming Process leaves no stone unturned in locating or building families for young people in foster care, no matter their age, current placement, or unique challenges.

The process brings together all the adults the young person identifies as important to work together, help the youth plan and prepare for adulthood, and strengthen or build family connections when appropriate. As a result of Casey’s work, young people leave care with family ties and stronger relationships in adulthood.

Why Teaming?

Permanency teaming strategies increase our ability to:

  • give youth and families more say in their lives;
  • identify family members for youth thought to have none;
  • involve birth parents and other important adults safely; and
  • find permanent families for youth as quickly as possible.
