And then . . . Dark!

What a night at the game! While we had 120 people signed up to join us, 100 showed up despite high winds and driving rain. Once inside the Expo, it was easy to see why the Maine Red Claws games are such a hot ticket. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure every fan had a great time, win or lose. Of course, there’s no talk of losing here! In spite of a power outage during the third quarter that momentarily thrust us into darkness and wiped out the scoreboard, the team went on to win 122-97 over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. It was Crusher’s birthday, so we all scored Crusher bobblehead dolls for attending. Every mascot in Maine turned out to celebrate, play some ball, take a turn on the floor with the Red Claw dance team, entertaining the crowd. Our kids got to line up and high-five the players as they came on the court, and one young man even got picked to participate in the Dunkin Donuts dunk contest. Mark Millar, Casey’s division director in Maine, was interviewed at half-time for WJAB and Channel 9 Time Warner TV about the need for foster families, and how happy we are with the Red Claws as partners in recruitment. It was such a fun event we are already getting requests to please, do it again! Check out my photos!
