Maine Adoptions at the Children’s Museum

Three foster families with Casey Family Services finalized the adoptions of their children at a National Adoption Month ceremony held at the Children’s Museum of Maine on Monday, November 16, in Portland. They were part of a larger group of 28 kids whose adoptions were legalized that day by Judge Joseph Mazziotti. It was a very exciting day for the young people and their adoptive families, as well as for the Casey staff who work with them. After Monday’s ceremony, there are 152 children in Maine waiting for adoptive families. You can see some of them at the Heart Gallery. There currently are 1,668 children in Maine foster care, and 1,268 licensed foster homes. At Casey, our goal is for children in foster care to leave care with a family for life, and in the case of these four kids, that day has come. Many thanks to Coffee by Design and Katie Made Bakery for donating refreshments for the celebration, and congratulations to all!
