Elm City Fellowship Sets September 7 Application Deadline

Brenda Donald Named VP of Center for Effective Family Services and Systems at the Casey Foundation
June 25, 2010The Annie E. Casey Foundation has named Brenda Donald to serve as vice president for its Center for Effective Family Services and Systems. Donald was previously the Secretary for the Maryland Department of Human Resources, appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley in February 2007. In her new position as a member of the Foundation’s senior leadership team, Donald will be leading the Center’s work of improving outcomes for children living in the country’s most fragile families.

Number of Children in Foster Care Decreases but Critical Needs Go Unmet

This year, despite a marked decrease in the total number of children in foster care – from more than a half million in 2007 to 463,000 at the end of 2008 – serious issues remain, especially for older youth in care.
