Becoming a Parent through Foster Care and Adoption in Massachusetts |
With offices in Lowell, Massachusetts, Casey Family Services works with parents to provide foster care and adoption services throughout the northeast corner of the state. All kinds of people parent children and youth in foster care, whether as foster or adoptive parents. Our families comprise a broad range of individuals from different economic circumstances, diverse ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, and include those who are single, married, gay, and lesbian. While we need families in communities throughout Massachusetts, there is a great need for parents in Andover, Haverhill, Lawrence, and Lowell.
Waiting Teens in Massachusetts
Dariana (Age 14)
My name is Dariana, but I like Dari better. I’m looking for a forever family, so here’s what you should know about me.
Lots of people think I’m creative because I love to sing, dance, ice skate, and do gymnastics. One of the most exciting things I’ve ever done is perform solo and group dance routines at the Wang Center for the Performing Arts in Boston. I’m also into style. You can always get me to pose for pictures!
I’m 14, so don’t be surprised that I like playing video games and listening to my MP3 player.
At school, I’m an ‘A’ student. I like being in a small class and knowing what my teachers expect from me. I do best with “hands-on” assignments and enjoy helping around the classroom. I like my classmates. My teachers describe me as hard-working and well-behaved.
I’m looking for a family that does fun activities together, and it doesn’t matter whether I have two parents or just a mom. I would love to have parents to tuck me in at night and comfort me during hard times. But what I’d really like is an older sister who will spend time with me, and maybe some pets like cats or a small dog.
My perfect family will believe in open communication and help me stay in touch with my birth family. I think a cell phone would help! It’s also important that someone in my new family speaks some Spanish as well as English because I’m Hispanic.
My ideal family will encourage me to express my feelings, something people think I do pretty well already. Most important, my forever family will help me become more independent so that I can reach my full potential.
