Ongoing Groups

  • Bellows Falls Young Adopted Girls Group: This group meets monthly and is for pre- and early adolescents with a structured focus on learning social skills. While the girls meet, a parent group meets at the same time.   • Brattleboro Adoptive Parents of Older Children Support Group: This group meets twice a month on the first and third Thursdays of the month. This is an informal group offering support for adoptive parents of children adolescent-age through adulthood who present with serious emotional and behavioral challenges. New members are welcome.   • Brattleboro Adoptive Parents of Younger Children Support Group: Sponsored by the Lund Family Center and Casey Family Services for adoptive parents of children ages from birth to adolescence. Group meets monthly on the third Monday from 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. For more information, call Nancy Birge (nbirge@caseyfamilyservices.org) at Casey Family Services (800.607.1400) or Graham Kidder at Lund Family Center (802.368.7260).

  • Chittenden County Area Parents of Challenging Children: This group provides a forum for parents to share experiences, learn about new resources, and get support. Refreshments are provided. Guest speakers may be invited to some sessions.   • Northwestern Vermont Gay and Lesbian Foster and Adoptive Parent Support Group: Sponsored by the Vermont Adoption Consortium and Casey Family Services. Support group meeting the first Thursday of the month from September to May from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Casey Family Services in Winooski. Dinner and child care are provided.   • Upper Valley African, African-American, and Bi-Racial Families Support Group: This group is for parents only and meets the third Thursday of the month at Casey Family Services office in White River Junction from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The group is currently on hold and will re-assess meeting time and structure from survey responses. For more information, contact Claudia Brandenburg (cbrandenburg@caseyfamilyservices.org) at 800.607.1400.

  • Upper Valley Parents of Challenging Children: Meetings are from 5:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Casey Family Services, White River Junction. A light supper is available from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and there is programming for children. Contact Claudia Brandenburg (cbrandenburg@caseyfamilyservices.org) or Nancy Birge (nbirge@caseyfamilyservices.org) at 800.607.1400 for more information. In order to provide adequate child care, first-time families need to speak with one of the group leaders prior to attending.
