VITA Tax Clinic

This year Casey Family Services, in collaboration with the Fairfield County coalition, was pleased to offer for the first time, the VITA Tax Clinic at the Bridgeport Division. It began on February 4, 2004 and ended April 15, 2004. The final totals for the Casey-Bridgeport clinic showed that 115 families were served. The total income of these families was $2,149,471. They received returns in the amount of $178,228.

The EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) benefit also helped 43 additional families realize an added return of $68,645 at the conclusion of the tax season. The combined totals for all of the City of Bridgeport partners was 554 families, with total income of $12,089,018, received returns of $561,638. For the EITC, 174 families took advantage of this credit and realized $463,175 in returns.
